  • Coronado - Surrounded by charming shops and restaurants, the beautiful white sand beaches on this island getaway across the bay from downtown is a sight for sore eyes. After spending the day enjoying the soothing surf, check out the views on the beachfront boardwalk for the perfect way to end the day. 

  • Carlsbad - A collection of smaller beaches divided by sea walls offers visitors a less crowded beach experience in Carlsbad. South Carlsbad State Beach has excellent spots for paddleboarding or surfing, and if you feel like making a night of it, they offer overnight camping.

  • Encinitas - Surrounded by rocky bluffs, Moonlight State Beach is a family-friendly beach with fire pits and volleyball courts perfect for spending the whole day having fun in the sun. Another spot is Swami's Beach, where surfers like to go to find their slice of heaven, namely the perfect surf break.

  • La Jolla - One of the top beach destinations in the world, La Jolla offers unbelievable views beyond the slopes of Mt. Soledad.
